Heel Pain/Heel
Spurs
People
of all ages can be affected by heel pain. A heel spur is a bone
outgrowth on the plantar aspect of the heel bone.
A sharp pain
on the bottom or inside edge of the heel may be felt in the morning
or after resting. A dull ache may be present after standing on a
hard surface for any length of time or after running. Even though
the pain is located in the heel, it is usually an inflammation of
the plantar fascia.
The position
of your legs and feet, and how your feet move when you walk, can
cause heel pain. Anything that puts stress on your heels can cause
tears in the heel tissue resulting in heel pain. An injury or medical
problemcan
also result in heel pain. A heel spur can develop as a result
of anything that causes stress on the plantar fascia.
