Foot Problems
Your feet are
crucial to carrying out your daily activities. That is why it is
so important to take extra time to specially care for your feet.
Feet are like
sponges - they absorb an extreme amount of force each day, cushioning
our body from hard surfaces.
Most foot problems
occur as a result of mistreatment, for example - working our feet
too hard or wearing fashionable yet uncomfortable shoes. Most people
don't realize foot complaints are as a common as headaches and the
common cold. In fact just about everyone experiences foot problems
from time to time.
Foot problems
can easily be prevented or treated by taking proper care of your
feet.
HOW THE
FOOT FUNCTIONS
The foot is
very complex and extremely functional. It maintains not only the
equilibrium of the leg but also of the body. It is a rigid structure,
acting as a lever that stabilizes and lifts your body's weight in
order to move forward.
BIOMECHANICS
Principles
and techniques of mechanics, when applied to the human body, are
known as biomechanics. The "load" on bones, muscles and
joints are studied from the static and dynamic standpoints to determine
the effects of force or improper functioning. The principle of biomechanics
can be applied to the feet since they are structurally and functionally
connected to the legs, hips, and spine. By establishing the optimum
position and function of the feet, it helps the entire skeletal
system function to its maximum capacity.
